Your school has given you Delta Academics to help you choose and prepare for your university applications. This page says how to use it well. It is short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask your adviser.
For everyone
Your account is yours
- Keep your join code, passcode or password to yourself. Do not sign in as anyone else, and do not let anyone sign in as you.
- Sign out when you finish on a shared computer.
- If you think someone else has used your account, tell your adviser straight away.
Names, and what else to keep out
- Delta holds your name so that your advisers see you by name. It is stored encrypted and shown only inside your school. You also have a username of three words and a label such as A-001, which is how Delta's own records and emails refer to you.
- Do not type your address, your phone number, or anyone else's name or personal details into anything you write in Delta.
Use Delta for what it is for
- Use Delta for your own school's university applications and for nothing else.
- Do not copy Delta's questions, reading lists, figures or pages in bulk, or use a program to collect them.
- Do not try to get round Delta's security, look at anyone else's work, or stop Delta working for other people.
- Do not put anything unlawful, hateful or harmful into Delta.
Know what you are reading
- An estimate in Delta is a range drawn from past admissions figures. It is not a prediction about you, a promise or advice about where to apply. Universities read much more than Delta can see.
- Feedback on a statement or a practice interview is written with the help of AI and is released to you by your adviser. It is there to help you practise. It is not a university's view.
For pupils
Be honest
- Enter your own real results and your school's predicted grades. Delta is only as useful as what you tell it.
- A personal statement must be your own work. Delta's feedback is there to help you improve your own writing. Do not paste in someone else's statement, and do not submit to UCAS anything you did not write yourself.
Know who reads what
- Your advisers at school can see everything you enter and every result you see. There is no private part of Delta.
- What you write or say in statement feedback, interview practice, your reading log or a note on a task is read once, by an automated check, for signs that you might need support. If it finds any, your school's safeguarding lead is sent your label, the date and the few words concerned. This is to look after you. It is never a punishment.
- If you are worried about yourself or someone else, do not wait for Delta: speak to an adult you trust at school.
Your privacy
- The privacy notice for pupils says what Delta holds about you, why, and for how long. You can read it at any time from the foot of any page.
For advisers
- Use Delta only for pupils of your own school, and only in your role as their adviser.
- Use your own account. Do not share it, and tell your lead adviser when you no longer need it.
- Enter pupils' names only in the fields Delta provides for them. Never put a pupil's name, or anyone else's, into a note, a comment, a message, a task or a cohort's name.
- Keep every export that carries names, and every printed slip, as carefully as any other pupil record. Each export with names is recorded.
- Read AI-assisted feedback before you release it to a pupil, and add your own judgement.
- Keep downloads and printed sheets as carefully as any other pupil record, and share them only inside your school.
- If the wellbeing check emails your school's safeguarding lead, follow your school's own safeguarding procedure. Delta's check supports that procedure and does not replace it.
If these rules are broken
- We tell your school. The school decides what happens next under its own rules.
- We may pause an account while a problem is looked into, to keep people and their information safe.
